Week 1 - Game to Film


In the first week's lesson we discussed the idea of how the Silent Hill movie differs and is similar to the original games.



  • Movie and game similarities -

Iconic images in the form of objects (in the game, would be invotory iobjects) e.g. Tourch, keys, lighter etc.


Cheesy game dialouge e.g. repition of calls to missing objective and talking to herself when something happens and no ones around.


Camera styles - Fixed high up camera with the chatracter moving within the scene, a classic view of surivor horror games


Music/Sound - the mechanical sounds in the film and slow pressing music both same as the games


Use of light - the use of light within the film gives the same effect as the games, show the size of room, the tension of horror etc.


Size of 'areas' - fog and objects create size of area in which the character has to stay within untill object is completed.
